Illinois bus accident injures 13

An accident involving a passenger bus in Chicago at around 6:35 a.m. on Aug. 29 left 13 people with various injuries. This included 12 bus passengers and an off-duty firefighter who was participating in the rescue effort when he was injured. Several ambulances transported the injured parties to various local hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.

Illinois truck driver in critical condition after crash

An Aug. 13 crash in St. Clair County involving a semi-truck injured two people, authorities reported. The incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. near St. Libory on Venedy Road and Illinois Road 15. Police say that debris from the wreckage was scattered approximately 100 yards around the scene.

GM may have ignored warnings that could have prevented deaths

People in DuPage County, Illinois, may have heard about the widely reported recall by General Motors started in February 2014 due to faulty ignition switches causing a range of dangerous issues. Illinois pileup kills 1, injures 2, in mid-afternoon pileup

A four-car pileup left a 50-year-old Chicago grandfather dead and injured two other motorists during the lunchtime rush hour on Interstate 80. The car accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11. The decedent was pronounced dead at Hazel Crest's Advocate South Suburban Hospital around 2:22 p.m.

High-speed Chicago area accident leaves 4 dead, 1 injured

A serious accident in the alley of the Brickyard Shopping Center on June 12 left four individuals dead and one critically injured. The accident occurred in the early morning at approximately 3 a.m. when a BMW driver who was allegedly speeding lost control of their vehicle in the alley behind the Lowe's store on 2630 N. Narragansett Avenue.

Hit-and-run accident kills Illinois cyclist

An Illinois bicyclist died in a hit-and-run accident on May 29 when a van struck her and then drove away. Police filed several charges against the driver of the van for the accident including a felony count of leaving the scene of an auto accident resulting in injury or death, a misdemeanor count of failing to give information or render aid and a traffic citation for failure to reduce speed. Police held him on $200,000 bond after a bond hearing on May 31.

1 dead and another injured in Illinois auto accident

One person is dead and another injured as the result of an auto accident that occurred May 5 in Edwardsville. Police have identified one of the victims as a 50-year-old woman who died at the scene. A 23-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Two other people were involved in the crash, including a juvenile, but they were not injured.

1 dead after being struck by large truck near Chicago

A Chicago driver who was involved in a minor accident was struck and killed by a truck as he attempted to take pictures of the initial collision on April 24, according to officials. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of West Division Street near the Kennedy Expressway.
