According to authorities, a 22-year-old woman was killed in a Dec. 14 head-on collision that occurred in Jefferson County on Route 15 at Drivers Lane near Woodlawn, Illinois. The accident took place when a car heading westbound was struck by another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction that crossed the center line. The deceased was a passenger in the westbound vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

11-vehicle Illinois crash ends with 3 people dead

Around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, a fatal accident occurred in Oak Lawn. Police reported that an 81-year-old man was speeding in a westbound pickup truck when he ran through a red light. He then allegedly jumped into the eastbound traffic and collided with 10 vehicles. The pickup truck driver and two nuns died in the crash.

Illinois bus accident injures 13

An accident involving a passenger bus in Chicago at around 6:35 a.m. on Aug. 29 left 13 people with various injuries. This included 12 bus passengers and an off-duty firefighter who was participating in the rescue effort when he was injured. Several ambulances transported the injured parties to various local hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.

High-speed Chicago area accident leaves 4 dead, 1 injured

A serious accident in the alley of the Brickyard Shopping Center on June 12 left four individuals dead and one critically injured. The accident occurred in the early morning at approximately 3 a.m. when a BMW driver who was allegedly speeding lost control of their vehicle in the alley behind the Lowe's store on 2630 N. Narragansett Avenue.

1 dead after being struck by large truck near Chicago

A Chicago driver who was involved in a minor accident was struck and killed by a truck as he attempted to take pictures of the initial collision on April 24, according to officials. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of West Division Street near the Kennedy Expressway.

2 charged in fatal hit-and-run

Two people were arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident, which occurred on an Illinois roadway on Jan. 18. The accident took the life of a 65-year-old female pedestrian. A Des Plaines man, 18, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver. His female companion, also 18, faces charges of cannabis possession as well as intent to deliver. Investigators found a sealed bag containing 27 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.
