After deadly wrong-way crash, man faces charges

A man from Chicago is facing very serious charges for aggravated driving under the influence (DUI) after he was involved in a deadly crash.

According to reports, the 25-year-old man was headed down Illinois Route 83. He began driving the wrong direction into the oncoming lanes while going through Clarendon Hills. As a result, his car slammed head-on into another car with four people inside. Two of them died in the accident. The allegedly intoxicated driver survived.

The man and a woman who died were 27 and 26 years old. A third passenger had minor injuries and the fourth had serious injuries that put them in critical condition. Reports do not give out the names or specific injuries suffered by those two at this time. They, too, are both age 27.

The alleged drunk driver was in an SUV. The other four were in a much smaller Volkswagen Jetta. The Jetta was traveling south in the proper lanes, while the SUV, in the same lanes, was heading north.

Wrong-way accidents happen for a variety of reasons, but you will find that many of them are related to drunk driving. Head-on collisions are some of the single most dangerous and deadly accidents in which drivers can get involved. They have the greatest chance of inflicting serious injuries or death upon the vehicle occupants. These collisions are also very difficult to anticipate or avoid.

If you get injured or if a loved one is killed in a wrong-way crash, make sure you are well aware of all of the legal options you have to seek financial compensation.
