4 common construction site death causes

Workplace accidents are all too common in DuPage County. These accidents can range from minor with just a few cuts and bruises to severe with lengthy time missed at work and rehabilitation for broken bones. The most tragic of workplace accidents end in death. Construction sites are incredibly dangerous, even with strict safety policies in place. Here are four common construction site death causes.

Working with electricity on a construction site is one of the most dangerous jobs you can have. That's why electrocution is one of the leading causes of death at construction sites. Electrocution causes more than 4,000 injuries and 300 deaths per year on construction sites.

A fall from heights is another common cause of death at these dangerous workplaces. Workers don't always utilize proper fall prevention equipment, which is what often leads to construction workers suffering severe injuries and even death.

Caught-in-between accidents are another cause of deaths in the construction industry. What is a caught-in-between accident? This is an accident where a worker's entire body or a single body part is stuck in a piece of equipment, a hole or other type of hazard.

The fourth type of workplace accident that leads to death on construction sites is the struck-by-object injury. Workers who fail to wear hard hats while on the job could suffer severe or deadly injuries if objects fall on them from heights.

Work-related deaths in Illinois can be prevented with training, safety policies, following safety guidelines and working smart. Despite all of this, accidents can still occur that take the life of a worker.
