DUI driver guilty of last two counts in Illinois fatality case

A judge in McLean County has determined that a 25-year-old female driver who struck and killed a pedestrian while driving drunk and failed to report the incident is guilty of leaving the scene of the car accident. The driver has already pleaded guilty to counts that include felony aggravated DUI, having a suspended license while driving and failing to reduce the vehicle's speed to help avoid an accident. A 21-year-old woman was killed in the accident, and her friend was injured but recovered.

Illinois woman in custody following fatal accident

A Divernon driver is facing charges after she allegedly left the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident earlier this month. On Nov. 14, the woman turned herself in to authorities, and her bond was set at $100,000. She has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated driving under the influence.

Illinois police officer and his dog killed in DUI crash

An Illinois police officer and his canine companion were struck and killed by a DUI driver on Oct. 30. The officer was a U.S. Air Force veteran who had been with the police force since 2007. A statement released by Pontiac police said the officer was an honorable and dedicated man who was deeply committed to law enforcement.

I-55 rear-end crash kills two children and one adult

According to a news report, two young children and one adult were recently killed in an Illinois auto accident. The crash occurred on Oct. 25 at about 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 55 in the vicinity of mile marker 50 near Litchfield. According to the Illinois State Police, a 2002 Chevy Impala carrying two adults and four children was struck from behind after the car is believed to have either slowed or stopped on the roadway.
