A pickup truck hit a sedan at the intersection of Ball and Farmersville Roads in Carlinville, killing a father and son. The driver of the pickup apparently failed to stop at the intersection, causing the collision. The father and son were traveling west on Farmersville in a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The Sebring was struck on the passenger side by a 2004 Ford F-250. The truck was driven by a 23-year-old man and was occupied by two other passengers. All three occupants of the Ford were treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The man and his son were both pronounced dead at the scene. The Macoupin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the car accident.
When a family suddenly loses one or more of their loved ones, they may be plunged into emotional and financial distress. They may lose the income of a breadwinner, and along with that, they might face the expense of a funeral and medical expenses.
A skilled Illinois personal injury attorney might be able to secure compensation for family members. The attorney might be able to manage most of the paperwork and details for the family, which might relieve them of some the stress and pressure of dealing with insurance companies. An attorney may have the experience and resources to negotiate successfully for a substantial settlement amount.
If the negotiations do not resolve satisfactorily, the attorney may suggest a civil jury trial. Using the police report and evidence from the accident reconstruction, the attorney might build a convincing argument on behalf of the family. A jury may be compelled to find in favor of the plaintiffs and award them a substantial sum.
