A Trivoli woman is facing charges following a fatal accident. The motorcycle accident occurred just before 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning in May. The woman was travelling southbound in a Chevrolet SUV on Kingston Mines Road. She came to a stop at the intersection of U.S. Route 24. The motorcyclist was riding behind a westbound car on Route 24.
The car slowed to make a right turn onto Kingston Mines Road. The woman in the SUV then turned onto Eastbound Route 24. The motorcycle collided with the SUV, hitting the driver's side front bumper. The rider died of his injuries. The woman driving the SUV has been charged with failure to obey a stop sign.
In addition to the loss of their loved one, the family of the motorcycle rider will now have to deal with medical bills and funeral expenses. There are often other expenses, such as lost wages, related to the sudden loss of a family member.
Families who have lost a loved one in an accident may be entitled to financial compensation. If a settlement is awarded, it can be used to help pay for funeral, medical or other expenses related to the accident.
An attorney may be able to assist family members in filing a wrongful death suit. A wrongful death lawsuit may target the individual or individuals who may have caused the accident due to carelessness or negligence. An attorney may be able to assess the circumstances of an accident to determine if there is a case to be made. An attorney may also be able to explain the litigation process to clients and may help clients to prepare for court.
