A woman from Normal died in a truck-car accident by Colfax on the afternoon of Oct. 8. The victim of the fatal car accident was 63-years-old at the time of her death.
According to authorities, the woman was traveling home after visiting family members in Fairbury and Strawn when she was on the roadway. The accident occurred at McLean County roads 2450 North and 3400 East in Lawndale Township, just about four miles north of Colfax. Police indicate that the woman was heading west on 2450 at about 3:20 p.m. Authorities say that was when her vehicle entered the intersection and was hit by a fertilizer tender truck that was heading north. The truck driver said he believes the woman had stopped but then pulled out in front of him without looking toward his direction. The Cooksville Fire Department, Colfax Fire Department, Illinois State Police, McLean County Sheriff's Office, McLean County Coroner's Office and Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association responded to the accident scene.
The woman was pronounced dead a little more than an hour after the accident. The autopsy results show that the she died of blunt force trauma. Specifically, the cause of death was due to injuries sustained to her neck and chest. A representative of the Mclean County Sheriff's Office said that the 64-year-old truck driver from Colfax was not injured. The investigation of the accident is ongoing.
